What movies changed you?

Movies are a passion I have in life and for quite some time I have been trying to compile a list of the best movies I have ever watched. The task proved to be very difficult if not impossible. Eliminating movies from a list feels unfair. Instead, I have decided to put together a list of movies that changed me in some way. These are movies that you may not have watched but (in my humble opinion) you must watch. Each one of them is moving in their own way: some are extremely sad, some made me feel amazing, some made me laugh but all of them made me think. They have also helped shape the person I am today. Even though I know how subjective the topic is, to me, this is cinema at its best:

Cinema Paradiso (1988 - Italy)

The diving bell and the butterfly (2007 - France)

The lives of others (2006 - Germany)

Il Postino - The Mailman (1994 - Italy)

Kolya (1996 - Czech Republic)

Talk to her (2002 - Spain)

Like water for chocolate (1992 - Mexico)

Amelie (2001 - France)

All about my mother (1999 - Spain)

Children of Heaven (1997 - Iran)

Schindler's List (1993 - USA)

The Pianist (2003 - USA)

Hotel Rwanda (2005 - USA)

Man on Wire (2008 - UK)

Being John Malkovich (1999 - USA)

Run Lola Run (1998 - Germany)

City of God (2002 - Brazil)
